"Towards the possibility of Hope"

"Becoming me - a brainstorming puzzle of thoughts, traditions, beliefs, images and music"

Since I arrived to Chelsea I have been challenged to try to express myself in new ways.
I became very interested in this idea of “thinking process” and the way we organize the huge amount of things, information, objects, tasks, pressures, struggles and pleasures that compose our daily life. I’m amazed with the fastness and mobility of this process where everything is linked by words, concepts, senses, images, poetry, music, chance, etc…
So I decided to book a space and compose several elements – drawings, images, texts, beliefs, music, memories and details of this new experience – that rearranged could represent myself in this constant updating process of becoming me. I felt I needed to reconfigure myself, and I really wanted to do something that would be the product of my experience, of the new me in a different circumstance, in a new context. Thus, this project room, this created space, can be understood as a brainstorming space where I tried to establish some connections that inform my life and thus my practice.

I did a Tea Party on the 30th of March and invited people in, and although there’s always the same struggle against time, it gave me the chance to talk with them and share my experience and points of view. Very interesting conversations! It was very surprising and ludicrous!

"Ao desenvolver esta série de trabalhos baseada em imagens de comunicação instantânea, pretendo particularmente averiguar o modo como as imagens mudam ou perdem o seu significado quando deslocadas do seu contexto habitual.

Esta transformação, com variações ao nível da cor e da superfície, passa por um processo de humanização da imagem banal e proporciona uma mudança na leitura, produzindo associações diversas, de acordo com a nossa memória afectiva.

A “Utopia do Bem-Estar” é, essencialmente, um projecto que procura evidenciar e questionar as expectativas e os ideais de felicidade do nosso tempo."
